In addition to managing "Broadview" farm in Section 8, Earl C. Barrett also served several terms as Justice of the Peace for Highland Township. He first married November 12, 1919, Gladys May Darling, the daughter of George and Nellie (Wise) Darling. She was born April 17, 1896, and died August 23, 1920; the day after giving birth to daughter Betty June Barrett. Earl C. Barrett subsequently married second, February, 1949, Dorothy M. Dennis. The photo below shows a young Betty June Barrett with her grandmother, Ida May (Cole) Barrett, who raised her following her mother's untimely death.
