In 1866 Joseph V. Hagadorn came to Highland Township, settling on a farm northwest of the intersection of Hickory Ridge and Wardlow Roads.  The property is shown on this portion of the map of Highland found in 1872 Atlas of Oakland County, Michigan, F. W. Beers & Co.  Just prior to, or perhaps immediately following his relocation he married a third time to Sarah H. Reed, born 1845, the daughter of William and Mary Reed of Green Oak Township, Livingston County [Note 1], by whom he would have three daughters:  (i) Cora Belle Hagadorn, born Jan 2, 1869; (ii) Emma Hagadorn, born August 21, 1870; and (iii) Mary Edith Hagadorn, born August 18, 1873[Note 2].

[1] - Some family histories posted to genealogy sites say this third marriage took place as early as 1852, but this is impossible since Almira (Loomis) Hagadorn did not die until 1863.  Given that Sarah H. Reed was herself from Green Oak Township, it seems likely the couple met and married there just prior to the move to Highland, although this cannot be claimed with certainty.

[2] - We have seen sources that attribute one or more of these daughters to a different spouse, but Hagadorn's published biography explicitly states all three are children of his third wife.
