A drought in the late 1930's caused the water level of White Lake to drop significantly. The photo below shows Marjorie (Langlois) Plegge warming herself on an overturned boat. During normal years the water would reach the base of the stone seawall in the background. Today an augmentation well can be used to maintain the lake level.
