Shelton and Elsie (Hagadorn) Thornton acquired the 40 acre farm on West Livingston Road where Elsie's father once resided, as well as the adjoining 80 acres J. E. Kelley farm, once owned by Benjamin F. Beach. This photo, taken looking southwest, shows the frame farmhouse that once stood on the small knoll on the south side of West Livingston Road where Aberdeen Drive now runs. The barn at the right side of the photo was later replaced by a much larger white barn that ran parallel to West Livingston Road.
