Mary Edith (Hagadorn) Ruggles died in 1940, while her husband, Harry O. Ruggles, died in 1951.  Their son Thurman Ruggles thereafter took over the ancestral farm which, in 1963, was officially recognized as a "Centennial Farm" by the Michigan Historical Commission.
